Maryland Woman Dies After Getting a Butt-Enlargement Injection

Suitland, MD — Police have confirmed that 34-year old Kelly Jo Mayhew of Suitland, Maryland has died after getting silicone injections in her buttocks. Mayhew reportedly traveled with her mom from her home state of Maryland to New York City to get the butt-enlargement injection.

Her mom told NYPD that her daughter received the silicone injections, but shortly afterwards she started experiencing trouble breathing. The woman who administered the injections then reportedly took off. NYPD says there was “no indication” that the woman who gave the shots to Mayhew had a medical license of any kind. Even worse, this all took place in the woman’s basement apartment.

Mayhew was an employee at BET Networks, and the network released a statement on her behalf saying: “We are saddened by the death of our colleague and friend, Kelly Mayhew. Our hearts go out to her family and we extend our deepest sympathies for their loss.”

Meanwhile, a crowd-funding page has also been set up in her behalf to raise money for her funeral costs.

On the GoFundMe page, her family posted a message saying: “[Kelly] was a happy, vibrant, healthy, and most importantly, loving woman… Kelly was a constant joy for the family and anyone who knew her. She had an infectious laugh and an amazing spirit of happiness. She was always joyful and a pleasure to be around, even when she had cause not to be. Her happiness was contagious and she will be sorely missed.”
